New Mobility Magazine was created to empower wheelchair users to live a more prosperous life, as well as, informing society of disability related topics through arts, media, philosophy, and advocacy. Back in 1989, Sam Maddox launched the Magazine because he realized that the wheelchair community needed more information and resources so they could live a more normal life. He wanted to focus on all topics from rehabilitation programs to sex. By working with college interns who were or knew someone who was disabled, along with seasoned writers, they could touch on real personal stories and start to decrease stereotypes.

This Magazine focuses on stories that will inspire people to take more action in all areas of life such as education, love, sex, parenting, home ownership, and work. They also want them to experience greater mobility in recreational, travel, and entertainment, as well as, gain information on health issues, appropriate technology, and legal rights so they can live more independently.
