FAQ

Insurance Approval

There are several financial options when it comes to our power wheel chair. From Medicare to private insurance companies, most are willing to help fund the Mobilife Chair, and we'll even help you get approval. It's also possible to combine payment methods, such as part cash, part insurance. We will work to help you get the financing you deserve.

Medicare will cover anything that has been approved by the SADMERC (The Statistical Analysis Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carrier), and our chair has an approval code. However, it may only be partially covered, depending on the rate they assign to your individual case. Each situation is analyzed separately, to see how seriously the patient needs the product.

Medicaid is very similar. It's a federally mandated, state managed program aimed at low-income clients and dependent children. Regulations on which items are covered, and at what levels, vary widely from state to state. Here again, the local equipment provider has a good working knowledge of regulations and rates of reimbursement and can help determine the best equipment within reimbursement levels. In some instances Medicaid may be "combined" with other insurance programs to pay for the required equipment.

Vocational Rehabilitation is typically a state/federal program managed by the states whose focus is returning individuals to work. In many states the agency is divided into two parts; one for the needs of the hearing impaired and the second for all other issues. The majority of vocational rehab funding goes to training, transportation and other issues, but there is some funding for medical equipment.

The voc rehab counselor is not usually trained in this area and will depend upon either a private contractor or clinician to make determinations on the necessity and practicality of different types of equipment. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. As with other programs, the voc rehab program may allow the client to "combine" insurances if the cost of the equipment needed is too great for any one reimbursement agency to cover alone.
