Disabled American Veterans DAV

Synopsis by MobiLife, Power Wheel Chairs

Disabled American Veterans was founded by Veteran Captain Robert S. Marx after World War 1. The aftermath of the war left America unable to take care of the many wounded solders that were not able to work. After recovering from wounds of his own, Marx returned to practicing law in Cincinnati, eventually won a spot as a Superior Court Judge and became a leader in the veterans cause. In 1920, he created the national organization along with 250 veterans. He visited 32 states to develop local chapters. Because of his leadership and effort, he became the "Father of the DVA" and built the foundation to make DVA today's best veterans service organization in the world. They are able to serve millions of veterans every year with free services.

Whether it's serving as voice in Washington D.C., building a nationwide service program and transportation service, or developing more rehabilitation opportunities, DVA is completely dedicated to fulfilling that mission for America's Disabled veterans and their families. Today, society creates challenges for disabled veterans and its DVA's goal to help build better lives and effectively change these problems that they are facing. With 52 state departments and close to 2 thousand chapters, DVA is able to fund and operate programs that provide the framework for the million plus members.

Disabled American Veterans is able to help and serve our veterans through its members and donators. There are many different ways you can help our veterans through donations. You can simple just donate money to the organization, or you can donate to the Charitable Service Trust. Through the Charitable Service Trust, you can support physical and psychological rehabilitation programs or help a veteran that may have a specific need for a power wheel chair obtain one. Another way you can donate is through the National Service Foundation. They are responsible for the financial resources related to assistance, aid, maintenance, care, and rehabilitation programs for veterans. Either way, there is a way you can support and help veterans and their families.
